This website is operated by Dr Rachel Megahy, trading as Pet Loss Psychology, part of Prism Psychology Ltd, company number SC707886, registered at 47–49 The Square, Kelso TD5 7HW.

You can contact us about your data at hello@petlosspsychology.co.uk.

When you enquire (contact, therapy, or professional forms). We collect your name, email address, and whatever you choose to tell us in your message. For professional enquiries we also collect your organisation name. We use this only to respond to you and, if relevant, to arrange services. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

When you sign up for the free guide. We collect your first name and email address so we can send you the guide and occasional updates about new resources. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.

Sensitive information. Grief is personal, and an enquiry may include information about your health or wellbeing. This is "special category" data under UK data protection law, and where you provide it we rely on your explicit consent to handle it for the purpose of responding to you. Please don't share detailed clinical or sensitive information through the website forms — keep that for a secure clinical conversation once contact is established.

Technical information. Like most websites, we may collect limited technical data (such as IP address and general usage information) and use cookies or similar technologies. See "Cookies" below.

If you purchase the course, we additionally collect and process the following.

• Account details: your email address, name, and encrypted password.
• Purchase details: what you bought and when. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach us.
• Course activity: which lessons you have completed.
• Content you choose to write: reflections, exercise responses, and your pet's name.

We process this to provide the course you purchased (performance of a contract), to keep records of purchases (legal obligation), and to secure and maintain the platform (legitimate interests).

A note on sensitive content. What you write in your course workbook may reflect your emotional experience. We treat all workbook content as strictly private: it is stored securely, is never read or reviewed by us, is not used for marketing or analysis, and is not shared with anyone. It exists solely so the course can show you your own work. You can delete your reflections at any time, or ask us to delete your account and all associated data entirely by emailing hello@petlosspsychology.co.uk.

If you join the mailing list, our emails are sent using Kit (ConvertKit). Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we will stop sending marketing emails as soon as you ask. If you purchase the course, we will also send you service emails about your account and course access; these are not marketing and are necessary to provide what you bought.

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site, the course, and our communications. Each acts under contract and processes data only as needed to provide its service:

• Lovable — website and course platform hosting (lovable.dev/privacy)
• Supabase — secure database and account hosting for the course (supabase.com/privacy)
• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• Vimeo — course video hosting and streaming (vimeo.com/privacy)
• Kit (ConvertKit) — email delivery (kit.com/privacy)

Some providers may process data outside the UK; where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision).

Links to external sites (such as Amazon, where the book and journal are sold) are not covered by this policy — those sites have their own privacy terms.

We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards (12 months), unless you become a client, in which case clinical retention rules apply. Mailing-list data is kept until you unsubscribe.

Course account and workbook data are kept while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we erase your profile, progress, and all workbook content within 30 days, retaining only the minimal purchase records we are legally required to keep (6 years, for tax purposes).

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@petlosspsychology.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.

This site uses essential cookies required for it to function, including those needed to keep course users signed in. If we use analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first via a cookie banner.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published here, with the date shown at the top.
