Terms of purchase and use

Terms of Use — The GENTLE Path

    Last updated: 25 July 2026

These terms apply to your purchase and use of The GENTLE Path online course ("the Course"), provided by Dr Rachel Megahy, trading as Pet Loss Psychology (Prism Psychology Ltd, 47–49 The Square, Kelso TD5 7HW, company number SC707886), "we", "us". By purchasing the Course you agree to these terms.

    1. What the Course is — and what it is not

The Course is a structured programme of psychoeducation and guided self-help for adults experiencing grief after the loss of a pet. It includes video lessons, audio practices, written materials, and interactive exercises.

The Course is not psychological therapy, counselling, or treatment, and is not a substitute for them. Purchasing or completing the Course does not create a therapist–client or any other clinical relationship between you and Dr Rachel Megahy. No part of the Course constitutes a psychological assessment, diagnosis, or individualised clinical advice, and nothing within it is tailored to your personal circumstances.

If you are experiencing significant distress, symptoms of depression or anxiety, prolonged or complicated grief, or thoughts of harming yourself, please seek support from a qualified professional. In the UK you can contact your GP, or Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24 hours). If you are at immediate risk, call 999.

    2. Who the Course is for

The Course is intended for adults aged 18 and over. By purchasing, you confirm you are at least 18.

    3. Your account and access

After purchase, we create a personal account for you. Access is for you alone: you agree not to share your login details, and accounts may not be used by more than one person. Access is "lifetime access", meaning for as long as the Course remains available; if we ever retire the Course, we will give you at least 90 days' notice and the opportunity to download your workbook.

You agree to use the Course and its community-free, private format respectfully and lawfully, and not to attempt to download, copy, record, or redistribute Course videos, audio, or materials.

    4. Price and payment

The Course price is displayed at checkout in pounds sterling and processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. If you choose the instalment option, you authorise three monthly payments of the stated amount; access is granted on the first payment, and you remain responsible for all three instalments. If an instalment payment fails and cannot be collected after reasonable attempts, we may suspend access until payment is resolved.

    5. Refunds and your cancellation rights

Our 14-day guarantee. If the Course is not right for you, email us at hello@petlosspsychology.co.uk within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full to your original payment method, no questions asked. For instalment purchases, this cancels remaining instalments and refunds any paid.

Your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a legal right to cancel a digital content purchase within 14 days. By purchasing, you consent to immediate access to the Course and acknowledge that this consent affects your statutory cancellation right once you begin accessing the content — however, our 14-day guarantee above applies regardless, so you are never worse off. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Refund requests after 14 days are considered at our discretion.

    6. Intellectual property

All Course content — including the GENTLE Method™, the Structural Role Model™, all videos, audio recordings, written materials, workbooks, diagrams, and branding — is the intellectual property of Dr Rachel Megahy / Prism Psychology Press and is protected by copyright. You are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use the materials for your own private, non-commercial use. You may print or export your personal workbook for your own use. You may not reproduce, share, teach from, or commercially exploit any Course content without written permission.

    7. Your workbook and reflections

Anything you write in the Course — reflections, exercise responses, your pet's name — is private to your account. We do not read, review, or monitor what you write, and your entries are not clinical records. Because they are not monitored, please do not use the workbook to communicate with us or to seek help in a crisis; it will not be seen. See Section 1 for support routes. You can export your workbook as a PDF at any time.

    8. Health disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Course provides general educational information about grief. It is your responsibility to judge whether the Course is suitable for you, and to seek professional help where needed. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on Course content as a substitute for professional care. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Our total liability to you in connection with the Course shall not exceed the amount you paid for it.

    9. Availability

We aim to keep the Course available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access (for example during maintenance or events outside our control). We may update, improve, or reorganise Course content over time; we will not remove substantial value from what you purchased.

    10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you purchased governs your purchase; material changes affecting existing customers will be notified by email.

    11. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts (or your local UK courts where consumer law provides). If you are unhappy with anything, please contact us first at hello@petlosspsychology.co.uk — we aim to resolve all complaints within 14 days.
